Association aims

The Association of Bereavement Service Coordinators aims to:

Provide a nationwide network of information and support for bereavement service co-ordinators in hospice and palliative care settings.

Provide high quality of bereavement support through the promotion of good practice, and information sharing across the network of members.

Raise the profile and priority of bereavement support, and those who deliver it both within the hospice and palliative care movement and beyond.

 Objectives

  • Annual national conference
  • Regular regional meetings, facilitated by a regional representative
  • Regular funded regional training events
  • Annual general meeting
  • Internet chat forum
  • Newsletters containing information from regions, training dates and news
  • Representation at the Network of Professoinal Associations: Hospice and Palliative Care
  • Representation on a range of committees and panels in order to raise the profile of bereavement, and bereavement support workers across the U.K.
  • Developing standards in bereavement, support service delivery; i.e. training, development, information, selection and recruitment of volunteers
  • Liaison with, and provision of guidance to, other professional bodies at local,national and goverment levels
